National Young Marine of the Year

YM/SgtMaj Megan Lynch

Greetings Young Marines!

My name is YM/SgtMaj. Megan Lynch from Southeast County Young Marines in Seal Beach California. I have been a part of the Young Marine program since 2012, joining at just 9 years old. Ever since then I have made friendships that have lasted my lifetime, and have been a part of incredible opportunities that some may never have the chance to experience. Throughout my seven years in the program, I have been fortunate to have attended several SPACES events, such as ORME in Arizona, FEMA in California, and Outdoor Leadership School in Alaska, and Code Talker day in Arizona. I also took part in the Public Affairs Training Course in Virginia, where I was assigned the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Trip in Hawaii. and one of the greatest trips, to Guam/Iwo Jima to hike Mount Suribachi, and learn about the history of these two incredibly humbling places. I have attended National Leadership Acadamy twice, both for Senior and Advanced Leadership school, and graduated number two of the "Top Ten". Because of this honor, I was able to go to the National Symposium where myself and 15 others were given the task of sharing our ideas on improving the Young Marine program.

I am extremely honored to serve as your 2019-2020 National Young Marine of the Year and intend to make this next year the best! I am more than excited to represent our program and reach out to as many people as I can. I aspire to take part in any and all events I can reach while focusing on teaching my three P's of Young Marines: Passion, Positivity, and Productivity! This program has taught me all three and I plan to spread this message. Thank you all for this honor and God bless!
